TORRESCÁMARA closes the arch of the Tingo bridge in Peru

TORRESCÁMARA has completed the concreting of the structure of the Tingo arch bridge, in the department of Cajamarca, province of Cajamarca (Peru).

The action, promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru, is part of the improvement works of Route PE-8 (Pacasmayo - Cajamarca) of the National Road Network, which connects the coast with the mountains, and is located in a very steep area of ​​the northern mountains of Peru.

The structural typology is a concrete arch with an upper deck, 75 m long, which saves the passage over a deep ravine.

The steep slopes and the problems of landslides made necessary, in the first place, the stabilization of the right abutment. These circumstances, together with the height above the gorge, imply an important difficulty to install a conventional scaffolding, so a steel arch built by cantilevered sections with provisional cable-stayed towers was executed (see link), on which the formwork were installed and the structure was concreted (see link).

Also related to the construction of bridges, TORRESCÁMARA is developing an R & D project for the pre-dimensioning of steel-concrete composite bridges using artificial intelligence tools. The project has been financed by the CDTI and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and has the collaboration of the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
